Jonglei Floods: Thank You For Making a Difference

A massive thank you to all our supporters who donated to our Jonglei floods appeal – we are particularly thankful to the anonymous donor who generously match funded donations to ensure the target was not only met but surpassed.

We have now been able to assign excess funds to a similar response in Gondokoro, a suburb of Juba where Trumpeter Community Health is active. Praise God! Bishop Zechariah Manyok of Wanglei Diocese in Jonglei (below), who originally contacted AID about the floods in his area, has updated us on the response made possible by the appeal.

Flooding is not uncommon in Jonglei State. In fact, it is an annual occurrence and local people are used to it. However, this year’s deluge has been disastrous, even by South Sudanese standards. The United Nations have reported that in some areas, the Nile has risen by more than 17m. Therefore, we are pleased that we have been able to support brothers and sisters in Christ facing these dire circumstances by providing vital equipment and encouragement.

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous:

“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly, the right hand of the Lord exalts, the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!”

Psalm 118:14-16
