The resilience and passion of Manna Microfinance staff is amazing. These women have worked extremely hard to grow and expand the project since it began in 2011, despite the recent tragic conflict that has claimed nearly 400,000 lives.
Felista is one of the Manna Microfinance staff members and juggles her time between work and caring for her three children. Her parents moved to Uganda as refugees when she was a child and she grew up there, attending primary and secondary school and finally completing a course in accountancy. Moving back to South Sudan to find employment, she worked for BRAC, a large economic development NGO, for two years before she joined Manna Microfinance.
Felista is vitally important to the success of Manna Microfinance because she is responsible for ensuring the accounts are up to date which in turn enables transparency and clarity with supporters and funders. Besides this, Felista has also recently been involved in managing some of the loan groups in her area. She has dreams of Manna growing and becoming self-sustaining in the future and this is well on the way to happening – Manna now makes a monthly profit of approximately 600 USD!
