Kule is a widow living in Marsabit, a dry and dusty region of Northern Kenya.
She works hard to provide for her six children by selling produce loaned to her by a local business. Despite this Kule often worries if she will make enough to look after her family. Profits are very small and she never has enough to really develop her business.
AID will soon be launching a microfinance project in Marsabit to help men and women like Kule to develop their own sustainable businesses so that they can provide for their families for the long term. Crucially we will be working with the local bishop to make it effective.
