Fundraising Walks for AID 2022

We are organising three big walks this year to raise money for our projects. Could you join one? Could you bring a friend along?

St Cuthbert’s Way: 17-19 June

(back up date in case of poor weather 24-26 June)

A 56 mile trek in 3 days that follows a pilgrimage of St Cuthbert from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in Northumberland to Scotland. You can find out more at: www.stcuthbertsway.info

The hikers will set out from the stunning Lindisfarne (Holy Island) at 9.45am on
17th June before covering the Cheviot Hills and finishing at St Boswells in the Scottish borders at 6pm on 19th June.

Tides at Holy Island will allow for crossing via the causeway from 9.10am on 17th June. Overnight stops will be at Wooler and Kirk Yetholm.

You will need to carry a light day sack but heavy kit (e.g. tent, cooking equipment) will be transported for you between accommodation sites (your choice of B&B or camping).

3.6 mile Family Walk for Water - Derwent Valley (Tyne and Wear): 16 July

Join us for a 3.6 mile walk along the Derwent Valley to raise money for AID’s community health and water project – Trumpeter Community Health.

3.6 miles is the average length someone has to walk in the developing world to collect water. In South Sudan 1 in 10 children die before they are 5, often from preventable diseases which can be caused by drinking unclean water.

Our Trumpeters help communities in South Sudan build water sources in their villages and teach them how to make water safe for drinking.

The walk is designed to be family friendly; buggies and scooters welcome! We will have a picnic together near the end.
