Thank you to everyone who donated in summer 2025 to bring clean water to the St. Paul's church in Walda, northern Kenya
Walda Parish is in northern Kenya, in Marsabit County. It sits near the town of Moyale, close to the Ethiopian border. The area is dry and rugged, and many people there make a living by moving with their animals to find food and water.
St. Paul’s Church, Walda, began in 2023 when four Christian families moved here with their livestock and asked the Anglican Diocese of Marsabit for help. Now, 60 people gather every Sunday. The pastor, Rev. John Wato, and his team of evangelists wake at 5 a.m. to pray and study the Bible, before riding out on motorbikes to encourage believers and share the Gospel in the surrounding villages.
Life in Walda is challenging for the small Christian communities who call it home. Clean water is not readily available, and the nearest borehole—located 3km away—is already stretched, serving hundreds of people. A new borehole would bring hope and relief to families living in this dry, dusty region.
We are so grateful to everyone who donated to this appeal. The borehole has now been drilled and is producing a good yield of clean water. The next stage of the project is in progress as the solar powered water tower is being constructed and should be completed by spring 2026.
